
We will be joined by the film’s central figure, Richard “Mac” McKinney, BSW. Helping us with this discussion will be WMU Associate Professor of Comparative Religion, Alisa Perkins. Dr. Perkins has done extensive research on Islam in America and is currently working on a documentary of her own. Dr. Perkins will assist event organizers and chapter board members, David C. Weindorf and Ian Magnuson, in providing a guided discussion on the film and its themes. There will be time for participant questions during the event as well.

It will be centered around the Academy Award nominee short film “Stranger at the Gate.” This illuminating event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 18th, from 7:00 to 8:30pm EST. Stranger at the Gate is a 2022 American short documentary film directed by Joshua Seftel. The documentary is about an Afghan refugee named Bibi Bahrami and the members of her little Indiana mosque, who come face to face with Richard “Mac” McKinney, a U.S. Marine who has secret plans to bomb their community center.
